4x4 LS Swap VSS

I am gather part to put a 6.0/4l80 in the 72 4x4 I have and was wondering how people have gotten the VSS on to their trucks. I have seen several options, have a sensor put in the 205 ,find the unicorn that is a 90-91 241 passenger side drop with the vss, or the sensors that screw into the speedo cable hole (the ones i have seen don't seem to put of the correct signal). ANy help on what i need to get fro parts would help.Thanks.

Re: 4x4 LS Swap VSS

the best option is a 2wd 4l80e because the tone ring is already installed in the trans. take the tailhousing off and bolt up the 205.

^This.

I have the same trans in the '69, and also went to the trouble to track down an NP241 with VSS...well I never ended up hooking up the VSS in the t-case...just runs off the trans VSS, and works great.

What adapter did you use? The Advanced Adapters one or some combination of OE parts?

you need the np205 that came off of a th400. it has the same bolt pattern as the 4l80e and they are both 32 splines so it is a bolt together ordeal. th400 and 4l80e share alot of components mostly just being the 4l80e obviously has overdrive. but output shaft and bolt pattern are the same.
