If I'm understand what your doing right your wanting to put your 5.3 motor into the 85 and have it fuel injected correct?

If that's the case the 5.3 is already fuel injected unless otherwise known, I would say you might need new motor mounts possibly, and then the rest depends on what else you want to do with it.

in that case, I would say all you would probably need is to find mounting bolts for the motor and possibly a wiring harness other than that it should be pretty easy to swap.

lemme help u out..u need the motor(obviously), trans(use a 4l60e not a 700r4), engine mount adapters, wire harness n ecm rewired and reflashed, electric fuel pump system. Do a research. check out the lsx swap thread on this site. You'll find all the info u need.

Here's how I did it....

Grab everything you can from the parts vehicle,,,because some of it can be sold or turned in for a core for other things you need.

I grabbed the 6.0 and 4L80E, complete harness along with the computer, all hoses, I grabbed the gas pedal and control box (drive by wire, this will come in handy later), trans lines, oil cooler and lines, complete air intake system with the MAF, exhaust manifolds with part of the exhaust system cut off about a foot below the manifolds (this is important and I'll explain why). You basically want to pull this thing as if it would run sitting in the bed of your truck

I assume you aren't dealing with a 4x4? You didn't mention that but if you are, you will likely need adapters for the transfer case. If not then the swap is much easier.

I'll start with the harness and computer. I knew I wasn't using the stock harness but I grabbed it anyway for a few reasons. For one I wanted the extra weather pack connections for any future issues down the road. I also used it as a reference for Howell to build a new harness so they knew exactly which weather packs to use for the components I was using,,,including the 4th gen Fbody dual electric fan setup that was a curve ball I threw in the mix.
I didn't want a hacked harness in a retro swap, I've been down that road before and it sometimes causes electrical gremlins that are a pain to sort out. I wanted dependability, so I called Howell and had a custom harness made specifically for my retro application and enough wire to mount the computer where I wanted it. Simple plug and play, labeled and ready to go, doesn't get any easier.
On the computer, since I tune with HPtuner it's easy to jump in there and delete things I don't need like VATS, cats, and anything smog related. However Howell offers a computer with things like this ready to go for a retro swap, so if you don't have access to tuning software or a tuning shop near by, grab a computer from Howell. There is a core charge and this is where having the old computer comes in handy.
On that Vette fuel filter regulator,,,I avoided that route because of the rediculous expense. Remember you should be changing that filter ever 20-30,000 miles or so, at $120 a pop I quickly canned the idea.
I went with a stand alone regulator from Howell and then integrated a simple 4th gen camaro fuel filter in the line that you can buy anywhere for ~$8. It's quick disconnect and easy to change. I then made all my own fuel supply and return lines out of Russel braided lines and AN fittings, expensive but will last a lifetime for me. You can do an inline pump for cheap (I did initially) but it died after 15,000 miles, they just aren't reliable. I am currently doing a custom NWMP 37 gallon tank with an intank Walbro 340 pump that should go 10 times the distance of the inline pump, much more reliable with an intank setup. I'm doing this because I did the swap in a 72 blazer,,,,but with your newish 85 truck, you might be able to fab an intank pump with your current tank and save some money that way.
On the exhaust manifolds (especially the trucks) it seems GM has made the gasket and the flange for the exhaust rather unique, and on the passenger side it's actually part of the cat converter. This flange isn't made seperately anywhere unless you buy a new cat from GM (mega bucks $$$), and even exhaust shops have to get creative to make something.
I grabbed the cats, cut off the flanges, got new gaskets from GM, and then I could simply weld my exhaust directly to the manfolds with the cats out of the picture. After that the cats can be turned into scrap for a little money.

If you go headers, no worries here,,,but that's another rather expensive addition.

I did alot of extra things like dual electric fans (ditched the mechanical setup), made my own custom air intake, and so forth. I used the original hoses from the parts truck for the initial fabrication stages to see what worked,,,,then bought new ones.

If you have drive by wire I mentioned grabbing the gas pedal,,,,but you'll also need the little black control box (usually mounted on the firewall on the new trucks). This little black box is available to buy,,,,but it's $500,,,so grab it from the parts truck. The custom harness I used from Howell came with a harness for the pedal assembly too. The sweet part about the DBW gas pedal,,,,is that when you use Howell for a custom harness, they include extra wiring coming out of the computer to run cruise control (it's all computer controlled with DBW) So all you need to do is get a control switch and mount it where it's convenient and you then have modern cruise control in a retro swap
If you would rather avoid all this you can switch the throttle body over to cable control, but you'll need a throttle body, or your swap vehicle (if older than about 03-04) may have cable control already.

Once you dig in,,,you'll find all kinds of little things you'll have to do.

I also used 4th gen fbody fans. When I had my harness converted I just told Jared at Current Performance to add the a/c and electric fans then I just ordered pig tails for the fans from rock auto and built a harness using the hot wires he supplied. They work perfect.

I would rec running the 60e trans I was running a turbo350 and now running a 700r4 to see how to make everything work together since I do these swaps full time

the 350 is easy to make brakets for the kickdown the 700 not as easy can be done I bought the bowtie over drive set up and was not to pleased had to modify the brakets to get my pressure close but not spot on not worth the 150.

I just did a swap with a 700 and ended up making my own brakets came out way better.to run the 700 you need a flexplate from tci or find one from a express van they came with the older style 80e trans you will have to make your own tourqe converter bolt holes but no biggie.I would pull the harness,ecm,fuel lines,engine,trans,main fuse box,rad hises,engine fan,y pipe and cats,air box,charcoal canister.

I would take everything including smog parts just in case you wanna go smog legal now or at some point.as for mounts I would fab up my own this let's you use the factory a/c compressor in the stock location without cutting the brackets to crap and run an express van compressor as its not varible.modify your stock harness as its a piece of cake.not really a hard swap make sure you use the updated fuel line adapter fittings not the ones with the plastic clips there has been a bunch of people having issues with them coming off under pressure the new ones have a retaining nut that holds it all together.for the fuel system

you Probly have the style with return line from fuel rail I would buy a fuel tank from a 87 r10 along with sending unit hey -6 to 3/8 and 5/16 hardline adapters and run delco ep87 fuel pump I belive the number is this gives you a baffled tank and factory reliability I was running the Msd pump but dident like it when it got to be over 100 outside it would start whining and over heating.just my .02
