Need a softer ride in my stock 80 c10

I have a stock 80 c10 that rides way to rough for me. Any recommendations for soft riding shocks. My truck is just a driver. No hauling at all.

I have a K20 '74 1 ton frame and suspension and '84 3/4 ton running gear. Felt like the axles were bolted to the frame. Tried some Koni shocks, 150.00 for the set and not much better. Switched to Rancho 9000 adjustable shocks and Wow what a difference. Got them set at the lowest setting. About 100.00 per shock but well worth it. Live in Alaska w/lots of rough dirt roads.

A buddy put a set of Monroe senatracs on his 80 short bed and WOW that truck rides like a dream

Willy, does your truck have some kind or large replacement shocks on it? maybe some heavy springs in the rear? If it had the old rusty stock shocks on it, it should ride like a marshmallow. Just about every C10 I have ever rode in rides very similar to my 70's Cadillacs. I have Monroe Sensa-tracs on a couple Caddys and they should ride soft enough. I usually carry a load in my K15 just to make the ride tolerable.

Yeah, unless your truck has some kind of super HD shocks, new ones won't soften the ride.

My base 82 C10 has a fairly decent ride with stock suspension and new KYB GR-2 shocks. Last year I bought a set of 4 for around $100 and got a $40 rebate from KYB!

I see where RockAuto sells Monro-Matic Plus shocks for less than $20 each. I'd guess those are anything but HD.

On another note, what kind of tires do you have, and how much air pressure do you run?

I bought a 2000 Silverado 1/2 ton new and it had a very bouncy ride. I installed Edelbrock IAS shocks and Velvet Ride rear shackles. I don't think Velvet Ride is in business any longer, but other companies make shackles with rubber bushings like them. The Edelbrock shocks helped a lot, the Velver Ride shackles helped some. The improvement was most noticeable on washboard roads. Both products are very pricey. Edelbrock may be out of the shock business, but Summit has some on their website for cheap.

I used to say that I had proof I was an idiot because I had quit smoking for 9 years and started up again. Now for the latest. I was driving to O'rielly's today and remembered I had aired up my tires to 32 psi. I thought why did I do that since I don't haul and I don't tow anything with my truck. When I got to O'rielly's I asked the clerk if I could borrow a tire gauge because I wanted to lower the pressure in my tires. He then went out to my truck and did it for me. Nice kid. That's when I found out I needed a new tire gauge. One tire was 32 psi, another was 36 psi, another was 40 psi and the last one was almost 45 psi. When I drove home I found out I don't need shocks.
