Tune up all done.

Well finally got the tune up and re chip done. Whilst I was there I had a throttle body spacer fitted to the tbi 305.
On the drive home I noticed the throttle response was crisper, seemed a lot more eager to get up and go.
With the above, headers, new exhaust and rebuilt engine. I am really pleased with the result. Truck drives smooth and is a lot more responsive. I can spin the wheels with a lot more ease.....if I want to
Now turning my attention to body/respray, then interior.
Lots to do

Re: Tune up all done.

nice muncher - i'm looking forward to that feeling myself...trying to get it on the road this summer.

Do you have any more details on the tune and chip? I have 305 also and I wasn't planning on doing much to it but you have me intrigued.

Cheers

Re: Tune up all done.

The tune up consisted of.
New plugs
New Leads
New distributor cap and rotor arm.
The guy who chipped it took it for a drive for various tests. Came back put in a new chip that took in to account the other mods I had done ie removed smog stuff, Headers etc
Took it out again, more testing at various speeds etc. All done.
I also had a throttle body spacer fitted. For a TBI engine this works well.
Don't expect massive gains but you should notice an improvement.
I will know more about the mpg gains once I have driven it for a while.
One thing I do like is the cold start revs just a little lower. I always thought they were a little high before.
