Going with a flatbed?
I was sent over from the 73-87 forum...they said some of you guys with wood flat/stake beds could help me out...
I have a '78 C-20 and the bed is nothing but a bunch of rust particles holding hands... Now I'm thinking about building a flatbed, totally wood, with removable sides...maybe some lockable storage boxes, do it up nice and go for the classic look. My questions are, does anybody have any pics of trucks with a wood flat/stake bed? How about what kind of wood to make it out of? What do I treat it with to keep it from rotting out? And lastly...does anyone have plans for making a flat/stake bed?

Here is a pic of mine with a flat bed. It's all pressure treated lumber and got 4x4 rails to bolt it to the frame. I used all pressure treated because I do work it to death.

This truck belongs to a neighbor of Yukon Jack, and I think it is one of the coolest flatbeds I've seen.

Love that woody cab!!! If only I could make my truck out of wood, it would have been done by now!! Being a Carpenter by trade, working with wood is a lot easier than metal
