If you already have holes in the door that's one thing but the kick panels are actually the best most efficient place to install your speakers. Take a look at the competition vehicles and see where theirs are at. The closer your speakers are to being the exact same distance from the listener's ears the better it sounds. It doesn't sound like you're building a competition vehicle so in this case the doors will be the easiest.
