Sway bars and bags?

How are you guys mounting your swaybars with bags? My control arm mounts are welded on but problem lies when laid out I bent the bolt that holds the bushings from to much angle? Is there a high angle link kit for a sway bar? For a 65 Chevy c10

Don't use the factory thru-bolt and bushing set-up on the lower control arm. Weld some tabs on the lower control arm and use a heim joint that can articulate. Or, you might be able to find a clevis with a threaded end and bolt it to the lower control arm, and then use a heim joint. What type of end do you have on your swaybar? If you have a sway bar with an eyelet on the ends, then use the bolt and bushing set-up on that end, and find a female heim that will thread on to the end of the bolt.

We just got done with our bag install, and took the sway bar off... It's amazing the difference between a static drop with a sway bar, and a bagged setup with no sway bar.... This thing rides on rails now...

Have you tried without the sway bar?

Eyelet on bar end and using the l bracket that came with the addco bar kit.

Yea ran it all year without it and if you look at my build I put the valves as close to the bags as possible and still want more stability..

Think I got it figured out... Late 90's early 2000 Chevys ran a sway bar link that looks like it will work so I'm going to see what I can fab up..

Huh? I have found it to be just tho opposite. Adding a sway bar to a bagged truck is a HUGE improvement. You might try putting it back on and test it again.

That's kinda what I thought... I did an install on a cutlass and ended up putting the sway bar back on! My truck I want to handle cornering like autocross cars!

I have "heard" from others, but I can personally attest to my experience. My 77 Cheyenne did not have a sway bar from the factory. Its was bagged and driven for a full season without one. The next season I found a 1 1/8" bar from a C/20 and installed it with the clamps bolted directly to the frame. There was a very noticeable improvement in stability and a lot less lean in the corners.

I "always" recommend a sway bar with bags.

Yes, I did and I bet a lot of others here had to do the same.

OK, I have a 1&1\4" or so sway bar I'm mounting on my 83 c10 with bags, plates and cups and drop spindles. I plan on bolting just the 'strap' bands on the bushings directly to the frame and stock LCAs. There is one hole about 2" off more towards the bumper on each side of the frame. No other holes or rivets near where the mount lines up.... Should I have the truck aired out and the sway bar back ends as close as safely possible to the empty bags? Then mount sway bar frame brackets aired out so it draws away from bags going up?? Or does the sway bar even move when clamped up?? What do you think???

I would set it at ride height and install it from there. You want your end links to be perpendicular at ride height, which means they will be canted when aired out.
