Turn signal question

Quick turn signal question. I am in the middle of installing my painless harness. Going to do the lighting tonight. No parking, headlights or turn signal connected yet. But dash is all wired including the turn signal indicators. When I tested the hazards the indicators flashed, but when I try the turn signals, they do not flash, they just turn on. I tried switching my flasher on the fuse block and nothing happened. Does the build need to be wired in order for it to work? Or do I have a problem? I installed a new turn signal switch in the column. Should I be worried

Thoughts?

Re: Turn signal question

The flasher requires a current through the bulb to make it flash. If the bulb is not connected, the indicator is probably not drawing enough current to heat up the resistor in the flasher. Connect one end of a test light or to one of your turn signal wires and the other to ground and see what happens.

I'd have to guess that the two indicator lights in parallel are drawing enough current to make the hazards blink.

Re: Turn signal question

I agree that it's most likely due to current draw. Install one turn signal bulb and I imagine it should work.

Re: Turn signal question

Dang. Wiring takes a long time when you want it to look right. Got the driver side wired. Will do the other side soon and then test
