Drove home 72 bare bones gmc shortbed

Brought the new addition home today. Its a 1972 gmc shortbed fleetside 2wd truck that has ZERO options. Straight 6 with a 3 speed on the floor. My cousin picked it up and when he brought it home the wife wasnt to happy so he sold it to another cousin who than sold it to me lol all this happend in less than 24 hours Drove it home and gave it a simple green spray down and than pressure washed it off. The oxidation was washing off like mud it was so thick. After a bath she looks alot better.

Not bad for 2k I think. The previous owner looks like they rattle canned the spots that were rusting and it has alot of runs in it. Anyone have a way to get the runs out without taking any unnecessary paint off?

Not sure. First things first though it LOWER IT and put some stock steel hubcap rims on it. Than either big block or LS but its getting a t56 either way.

If he ever stops getting new projects, he might just start fixing up white lightning.

It sure is fun the way it is though

That's a great find and I'm sure your cousins are going to be hating on you once they see the finished product.

You can remove the rattle can spray paint with some enamel reducer or some brake parts cleaner, just don't keep it there very long....

Is that officially a ZERO OPTION spid? All it lists are the exterior and interior color, and you had to have both... don't think I've actually seen one before!

I was thinking the same thing. Someone literally said they want the cheapest truck possible.

That oxidation was so thick, I thought it was grey primer!

My dad and I redid a truck that could be its sister. Originally same color blue 71 GMC swb stepside. No options, 6 cyl 3 spd ott, radio delete.

We had it painted charcoal grey. It belongs to another member here on the forum now.
