Sixfo

Hey all, been debating doing a build thread on my C10 for a while now and finally decided the time was right.

First, a little back story on this truck. I had acquired a Toyota 4Runner and had no use for it, so I listed it for sale or trade on the local classifieds. While browsing in June or July, I found a guy that wanted to trade a 1964 C10 for a Toyota so I contacted him. He agreed that the 4Runner was what he was looking for and set up a time to meet up the following weekend. I never heard back from him that weekend. About a month later, I was parting out an 87 Suburban and he contacted me about some parts. I recognized the number and asked about the 64 and was told he had sold it, I was pretty bummed.

Fast forward to September and I'm browsing the classifieds again and see the truck relisted, so I contact him to see if he wants to trade for the 4Runner. He agrees and brings the 64 to the house on a trailer. He backs the truck off the trailer, pulls the 4Runner on, we swap titles and I'm super excited to have added to my collection.

Now that we have that out of the way, on to pictures.

The beginning

Re: Sixfo

Once the truck was at the house, I decide to start going through everything as this truck has been messed with. I was told that all the brakes had been replaced, but I don't really trust my life with something that may or may not have been done right. After going through the brakes, I found that some of the hardware looked pretty beat and some of the shoes were installed backwards. I addressed those couple issues, check all the fluids and took it for a drive in the back field.

After it passed that test, it was time to license it.

It came with a 350 And SM465, but it didn't run quite right. A simple tune up didn't fix it completely, so upon further investigation, I found that the cam was flat. I had a Summit 1104 cam, lifters and double roller timing set laying around, so in they went.

Next was the first altitude adjustment. I know a guy that works at a 4x4 shop installing lifts who was able to score a set of TJ coils for the rear.

That wasn't quite enough, so I ordered a set of 2 inch blocks and some new U bolts and cut 1.5 coils out of the front.

I then spent a couple months trying to find 73-87 steelies, as I couldn't stand the aluminum wheels on there.

Thanks. It's definitely cheaper. A guy I used to work with showed me how to do it years ago and I haven't looked back since.

Ride isn't terrible, but it isn't great either. I haven't notched the frame yet, so the axle hits over large bumps. The front it stock springs with 1.5 coils cut, the rear is TJ coils and 2 inch blocks. I removed the bump stops and the brackets for them on the lower control arms.
