Max Tire Size for Lift?
I might be getting a 6" superlift all spring lift kit. What is the max tire size I can run? Will probably be a 16x8 wheel with 12.5s. Not going to be doing any hard wheeling but if I take it through a ditch I dont want to be rubbing fenders.

Re: Max Tire Size for Lift?
I personally would think 37's are about all you'd want to go.

Re: Max Tire Size for Lift?
Agreed. No more than 37's without additional trimming. Personally, I would consider staying at 4" on going with 35's. I prefer all spring lifts to blocks and 4" requires only 1 steering correction (steering arm) while 6 usually requires a steering arm and a drop drag link.

Re: Max Tire Size for Lift?
Ill probably go with 35s or 36s. Its a trade so I cant really be picky. Some say a 6" superlift will only clear 35s so I was wondering if i could go with 36s. Thanks

Re: Max Tire Size for Lift?
Unless they are really sagging 35's shouldn't be any where near rubbing. 35's will clear with 4"

Re: Max Tire Size for Lift?
I'm running a 4" and my 35s clear with room to spare.

Re: Max Tire Size for Lift?
You need to find the 4wd & Off Road forum for this type of question.
I rub 35s with 4" lift and with 6" lift 37s can rub, too. I run in those combos and am careful, but ditches is where they will rub...or any twisty situation. With bad body mounts 35s can rub pretty easy with 6" lift and 10" wheels. All this is from personal experience. I always ran 10" wheels and going to 8" can be all the difference. Edit: When I did 6" on a '72 K/20 I had to lengthen the rear shaft 2". Also longer e-brake cables made, as well as brake hoses (I do hoses w/4",too). That is all I did, other than same lift steering arm as 4" (sold as 4-6). No transfer case drop or anything to the front. That was the only 6" all spring lift I've done on a 67-72. I had everything to do it again, tires/wheels mounted and ready, but decided I'd rather stay 4" to go 35" and down. I was thinking 2-3" with 285/75s on 8" or 255/85s on 7" (maybe 8) in the long run, but still wanted to use up the 37" and 35" tires on vintage wheels I had. I decided rather than go through all that, I could get the 16" steelies these days, so sell all that 6" lift/37" tire stuff, go to 4" so I could run the slots, and it would still look right once I end up with the sizes mentioned above. I'll probably go one or the other of those and another set of 35s. All in 16" with 8" wheels.

Re: Max Tire Size for Lift?
Wheel width is a very good point Tim. I was assuming 8"

Re: Max Tire Size for Lift?
I'll probably go with 36s. It'll be a little while since the truck won't be drivable for a bit. Do you think a 36x12.5 tire will mount and work properly on an 8" rim?

Re: Max Tire Size for Lift?
Yes, 8" wheels are what most run 12.50s on these days
