In need of help - 98 Burb Steering

I replaced the power steering pump on my 99 OBS 5.7L 2WD C1500 suburban (Chevy) and I went with the pump that had the EVO bypass built in. Quiet as a church mouse however, my steering issue remains. I am turning the steering wheel every 20 ft or so on the hwy. to keep it straight it seems. It's an annoyance at least. Even after this replacement and doing away with the EVO the steering still isn't tight.

I've replaced everything on the front end with all Moog parts:
shocks
A arms upper and lower with new bushings as well
Sway bar links
Both Tie rods
Pittman and Idle arm
Sway bar bushings
All new ball joints
Rotors
Brake pads
Rag joint
steering gear box

Mine is a 5 lug so Cognito Motorsports isn't an option.

I am running P275/65/R15 instead of the door specified P235/75/R15XL
I 've had it aligned by 3 different shops and everyone says it's within specification.

I realize it's not supposed to handle like a sports car but surely it can be tight somewhat.

Been fighting it since 2012 and spent a lot of money. I just keep thinking I am overlooking something really simple.
Could it be too much flow rate on the power steering pump?
Maybe the lower steering arm that attached to the steering gear is wore out even after the rag joint replacement?

Jeez this thing is driving me crazy

Shultz,

I kind of went through the same thing with my 94.

It turns out it was the intermediate shaft. It doesn't
have to be loose much to make the truck wander.

I found a vendor that makes them and it worked fine.

If that were the problem, it would show itself by having someone rock the steering wheel back and forth while you look under the hood.

Let us know what you see as I have the same issue.

Here's a little savings:

Sorry no picture but it comes with the rag joint here's a picture from a different site

Would wheel bearings do this? I do have a squeaking sound coming from the passenger front tire area. Everything is greased up.

No if the bearing were loose enough to effect the track of the vehicle, the hub would have fallen off by now.

Re: In need of help - 98 Burb Steering

Does the power assist feel excessively loose, like a 70's model Cadillac?

Or is it just wandering?

How easy is it to turn the wheel now, compared to before with the evo?

Was the evo working on the old unit?
