anyone had this prob. w/ brakelights?
had a real nice w/end and decided to get the ole girl out for a spin/wash. i noticed that my brake lights were not working, but my tail-lights were. after checking my fuse, brake light switch, every thing seemed allright. i took my lens off and then checked the bulbs (they were good). so i went on and took out the two screws that hold the tail-light bucket to the bed housing. that's when i noticed that the two screws have a rubber washer(or spacer) on the screw itself to isolate the bucket from grounding against the body of the bed.mine were so old that the rubber had dissentigrated and the steel washer was making contact w/ the galvinized metal housing. presto!! got brake lights now!! if anyone is having this problem check this out. while you have everything apart take some scotch-brite or sand paper and clean the contacts on the male plug-in,and roll up some of the same stuff and clean the inside of receptacle too. just thought i'd share this w/ anyone having similair problems.

It is not common that the ground is enough for the lower amp tail lights but not the higher amp brakes, but every once in a while...
