Fuel pump question
So I'm running the stock s10 gas tank and a carbureted sbc. My s10 had the carbed 2.8 in it. Budget mined should I try the unit in the tank? Or use the pump on the block? If I use the one on the block do I have to install a valve in the bottom of the tank or will it pull from the existing lines? Thanks

If there's a pump in the tank it can cause problems for a pump on the block. Use one or the other but not both.
If you don't like wiring you should use the one on the block. |

carb'd 2.8 s10 had and electric fuel pump mounted under the drivers side on the frame

just follow the fuel line back and see if there is also a filter inline somewhere and also see there is no kinks or flat spots on the line.

Lines are good, no filter. The more I think about it the filter was up front and the pump was on the block similar to the sbc.

I'm not sure what size fuel lines an S-10 with a 2.8 had but the lines may be smaller than the engine wants.
I'd still do as DsRaven suggested and follow the line all the way back looking for kinks and smashed spots. Also I'd pull the sender out and take a look at the sock on the pickup tube. They can plug up over time and especially if the donor sat for a length of time or sat for some time with the gas cap off.

As I remember, even the 2.5 powered S10's used 3/8" line. The tank had the same type of sock they used in other carbureted cars of the '80s and the filter was in the carb.
Good advice to check the fuel sock (filter in tank). |
