What's this???
I know this wire comes from my block to my alternator. It had a plastic cover over it that crumbled and this was inside. What type link or connector was/is this?
Isnt that wire a little small for my alt?

Re: What's this???
Fusible link .
Here's a link you don't need 100' but it gives you the info on what it is and does . http://www.qualitydist.net/pico-8126s.html Don't increase the size of the wire Don't use a fuse they are fast burn when a fusible link is a slow(overload) burn Don't change the length Don't use anything else other than the original style and gauge it's ment to blow BEFORE it burns up anything else . Most any auto parts stores will have them in stock

Re: What's this???
Grump is right. It is a smaller wire that will burn out from a direct short in a few seconds. Instead of burning out the complete harness. That connector should be insulated or it might burn the link out sooner than necessary.

Re: What's this???
Wait wait wait, someone is confused. If he's talking about the metal piece and that's a fusible link, then I'm confused. If he's talking about the wire then other people are confused.
I have no idea what the metal part is. The WIRE is a fusible link, 16 gauge, as described.

Re: What's this???
These trucks originally have an actual teeny inline fuse in both front corners for fuseable links. They tend to corrode and get crusty after all the years. If they blow they are usually stuck in there and the sockets are too crappy to clean well, so a length of fusable link gets spliced in
