How to bleed transmission lines?
So I have a th400 and I just rebuilt the motor and installed a stall converter. I have a trans cooler built in to the radiator, as well as an auxiliary cooler. I'm wondering how to get the air out of the system once I get everything put together

Re: How to bleed transmission lines?
It will self bleed when you start the engine and run fluid through the trans.

Re: How to bleed transmission lines?
Yep, just make sure the bottom ports on both coolers are intake. Top ports should exit the cooler.

Re: How to bleed transmission lines?
Not sure if your trans is fresh built but if it is you need to get a can of trans line flush to get all the old fluid out of the system.I do it every time I change trans fluid.

Re: How to bleed transmission lines?
OT, that TH 400 is pretty tuff. All I have is an external cooler. 140K and shifts as smooth as always, and that's despite an occasion I hauled far too many building rocks......up hill ..........6x12 trailer and bed loaded.......Whoops.

I was thinking of having just one cooler, but I just put in a high rpm stall converter too, so I want to keep it nice and cool |
