It's really easy to spot the difference between a Gen1 and an LS, so for now lets assume it's an LS and they got the year wrong. Hard to miss exhaust port differences... assuming it is an LS I know I need to verify that it's an LQ4 rather than a 4.8 or 5.3, and make sure that the tranny is indeed a 4L80E rather than the 60 (although I don't know how many vans had the 60).

Lets assume it's a 2003 or so, would the tank fit? Is there anything else I should get?
