Rear door striker plate on 1950 Suburban
I have a 1950 Suburban with double rear doors. The locking mechanism is there but at the bottom it doesn't lock onto anything as the striker plate is missing. There are only two bolt holes.
I'm not sure how the part should look (not the most photogenic of items so not many photos of it that I could find!) but I'm convinced that it must be a striker plate. Catalogues don't recognise it. Help? What is it, how does it look and most importantly of all where can I find one? |

Check,There should also be some type of foot on the latch rod inside the door, I have no idea of what it looks like as mine is still missing but here is a picture of the striker..

I have a pile of rear door latch hardware from a 50 Sub that, had BARN DOORS. Not Sure which doors you have. I have seen nothing that looks like above Pictures?

That's the one!
My car has barn doors but that striker plate is missing. Is there something on the bottom of the door that "slides into place"? Or is it just that striker plate and the rod inside the door locks onto it when you close the door? Is this a part that is no longer available? |

Re: Rear door striker plate on 1950 Suburban
Those I parts take it are something not 1950. Couldn't say what the exact year is but the striker plate is different.
Sooo.... Can anyone draw me a template of a 1950 barn doors striker plate and quote me exact dimensions? I could have them CNC machined with a friend. Unless someone has a spare striker plate? Which I'm guessing no one has? |

These ARE 47-54 barn door parts. Can't say for sure what clamshell or hucksters used but what you have are barn door parts

Finally some progress. I had a friend make this for me. The blue one is the original and the shiny one is the brand spanking new one
