fuse block missing?
Hey guys, out working on my 59 3100 today. I was looking for a fuse block up under the dash? Wasn't one there? Is this correct from the factory? Even my 55 sedan had a small 6 or 8 fuse block.
Thanks Tod |

Re: fuse block missing?
I have an original factory one in great condition laying on my parts shelf.
It was mounted behind the voltage regulator on the inside of the firewall forward of the brake handle. email me. hillenger512@cox.net

Re: fuse block missing?
It was an optional item in 55, 56, 57, and 58. Can't say about 59.

Re: fuse block missing?
I hunted all over my 59, checked in the assembly manual, and never did find it. Maybe it was optional is the correct answer, I believe.

Re: fuse block missing?
It would be forward of the park brake handle and above the floor mat on the LH side of the vertical part of the firewall. Get all that?

Re: fuse block missing?
55-59 trucks had optional everything
most of the overload protection was built into the headlight switch the switch has 2 bi-metal points style overload autoreset breakers as shown in the picture below one side protected the headlights; if your headlights ever flash on hi beam, this is the overload breaking, cooling and closing the other side of the switch protected all the other light circuits on the truck; brake, tail and (optional) blinkers the small fuse was for the dash lights, as the headlight switch had the rheostat built in for dimming them the only trucks i've seen with the small fuse panel on had the optional electric wipers typically the optional heater and optional radio had in line fuses when the wipers were added the fuse panel went in a basic truck without the heater or radio and electric wipers had no fuses, other than the one on the headlight switch
