HYBRID hood

black 61 Apache hood from grumpy, 60 LCF hood braces, and a center body line from a 66 C10 hood that was scrap material

What I hope to be on my 1962 C10 next Saturday if all goes well

Re: HYBRID hood

Thanks guys - I'm absolutely stoked to get this hood done finally. It's a vision that came to me some time ago - maybe 3 years or so back in the early stages of the build.

I like different subtle things that set a vehicle apart without turning it into a clown car so I hope fans of the 60-66 trucks will see it and appreciate the mod

Most lookie-lous won't know the difference or appreciate the work involved and that's okay too.

DK I saw flop and his earlier work on another board

Followed his Pontiac build pretty close / his skills are so impressive

We're both in the Pittsburgh area so I had to see if he might do this since I don't have the metal working skills to section a hood

So he did the metal work - pick it up this Saturday after he finishes the details

Re: HYBRID hood

I will have to see what is left when I pick it up this Saturday - might be going straight to another buddy's shop to get smoothed and primered

Thanks guys

Re: HYBRID hood

What's the idea behind using the LCF hood braces?

They were spotless and the 61 hood braces were NOT is all...

I originally thought I could section the LCF hood since it was as near perfect a hood as I have ever seen but we decided rebuilding the 61 hood was a better option than trying to weld the entire width of the LCF hood twice to get the length of a standard pickup hood.

How've you been Skipper?

I like that a lot, I to love to see small changes that unfamiliar people wont even notice. Do you ever take your truck to the Saturday night cruises in Irwin?

Kool looks good that was some serious surgery going on... I like it when people get creative and make things there own. while it may not be one persons cup of tea. who cares, if you like it then that's all that counts...

This truck has never been shown or cruised yet but we used too...

Planning on getting to Irwin's Big downtown cruise with this truck on April 30th then up to Hill's afterwards.

Thanks guys - the vision was to morph the two hoods into one unique hood that I had never seen done before. From there decided it best to rely on Flop's infinite metal skills to make sure it wasn't warped when done.

Got 60 and 61 inserts powder coated white to match the wheels, bumpers, etc. At this point I'm leaning toward the 60 units with clear lenses.

Can't decide on the center bowtie emblem... cowl trim is gone but cab panels are there. Tail gate is lettered, ... thoughts?

I'm a firm believer in LESS is more - I'll look at it before I weld the holes up.
