Fuel tanks and EFI

I wanna run aftermarket EFI on my 68 CST and was wondering what you guys out there for for EFI compatible Fuel tanks, I really don't wanna spend $600+ on a fancy aluminum tank. Anyone use a later blazer tank?

Re: Fuel tanks and EFI

I used a '85ish (TBI) S10 Blazer tank on a '72 SWB I did for a guy. Just swapped to a TPI pump and it worked great. I used lines and all. Did have to do some frame notching to fit it in, but nothing huge.

Re: Fuel tanks and EFI

I dropped a high pressure pump into the stock fuel tank to see if it could be done. It worked. If I were to do things over again, however, I'd have gone with a tank under the bed as the cab still sometimes smells like gas fumes. Or at least used an external pump as it's a bit loud to have the fuel pump just a foot behind me.

Re: Fuel tanks and EFI

Why not use your existing tank and add a surge/sump tank. We built one to use on a TPI system for my truck (see build thread below) and I'm using the FiTech system and there sump tank on my 69 Camaro.

Re: Fuel tanks and EFI

I think its a 86 or 96 grand cherokee , and I used a 01 silverado in tank fuel pump , ill check on tank tomorrow and let you know , the hole where the pump goes in had to be enlarged slightly

Re: Fuel tanks and EFI

I used a 30 gallon tank from a '88 Suburban. Had all the efi stuff and fits perfectly between the frame rails.

Re: Fuel tanks and EFI

I have a 1996 grand cherokee here that use to be our daily driver. If that fuel tank will fit in our 1968 suburban that would be awesome !

Re: Fuel tanks and EFI

90 jeep wrangler with 03 silverado pump , some fab required , sorry about the gran cherokee , but they may be the same not sure, the "lips" on the sides of the jeep tank line up with our frame rails , overlap so the it can be bolted to the frame behind the differential , one small crossmember has to be removed , I reinstalled in to add additional support to the tank , check the ls thread on this board , and ls1 tech.com , conversions and hybrids
