Big Bearing Inner Wheel Seal

I have a Dana 44 with the big bearing spindle and for the life of me, I cannot find a wheel seal that fits this thing. Anyone gone through this that can help me out?

Yep, I tried the Napa seal....it's too small for the outer most recess, amid too big to slip down into the smaller Recess...it bends in the middle when I try to drive it in. Is it supposed to be driven right down to the bearing? Or does it stay in the upper area with a small gap between the seal and the bearing?

Re: Big Bearing Inner Wheel Seal

I'm too tired to envision what you are describing right or explain much now. Mine fit fine. All they do is fit snug to the hub on the outside and seal to the spindle on the inside. They just drive down till they bottom out. I'll find the receipt for the part#.

Re: Big Bearing Inner Wheel Seal

What hub are you using, it makes a difference in the Outside diameter of the seal

25077 for the 'early' hub (bolt on locking hub)
24898 later model internal locking hub and the 10 bolt axle

Re: Big Bearing Inner Wheel Seal

I'm updating this in the hopes of helping someone down the road that may search for this info. I have found all the correct parts and assembled everything this evening with no issues. Here are all the part numbers
LM104949
JLM104910
LM501349
LM501310
CR24917

Those are the part numbers for both bearings, both Journals, and the Inner Seal

Re: Big Bearing Inner Wheel Seal

How did you end up with that seal number? The 24917 is a ford and dodge seal

Re: Big Bearing Inner Wheel Seal

It would help if we knew exactly what truck you have. I assumed you had the same Dana44 I have. My truck is a '72. Also, who's part numbers are those? By journal, do you mean race? Never heard journal used before. That's engine talk. To be helpful you should list beside each PN what the parts is, like I did
I didn't find the receipt for my NAPA part when I looked right after I said I would, but didn't get through all the (whole year of) receipts. Then I worked long days all week and didn't have time. I just dug deeper and found that receipt. The PN for the wheel seal is 25077 and the corresponding NAPA premium rotor PN is 4885677.

Re: Big Bearing Inner Wheel Seal

I dug through my receipts from last year and did what I could to help you. Can't you come back and answer our questions so we could all learn something here and help others? Your numbers are different that mine, so at this time your numbers mean nothing
