I'm kind of confused how that rear swaybar is going to work effectively at such a high angle.

One thing I'm not confused about though, is that those rear shocks are laid out way to much, to be of any real benefit. They should be mounted much more up and down than that

Humm, The springs carry the load, the shocks dampen movement, I'm not too convinced that its going to matter.

Now a shock spring combination like on an early dual shock dirt bike the angle would change the spring rate and make the compression softer early in the stroke and progressively stiffer later in the stroke, that's why the shift in manufactures and even hard core racers before that to move the top mounts forward to increase angle. but i don't think that would apply in this case.

In the early pictures the shocks were laid back more. I have moved them.
On closer inspection I'm wondering if I have the sway bar in upside down.....

I think you probably do have the bar upside down... did the sway bar come with the angle brackets on the side of the frame? Why not just mount the bushings directly to the frame itself?
