Restoration help please!

I'm in need of some help to figure out a few questions on what was original to my truck. Thanks for the help in advance.

1. Did my Suburban come with a headliner? (Custom trim level)
2. Did my Suburban have rear inside quarter panel trim covers?
3. Is there anybody who makes the original black rubber floor mat?

Re: Restoration help please!

I would say yes. I have custom trim in my Suburban with the headliner and side trim intact.

There would have been sheet foam insulation under the headliner also.

i can't help on the search for floor covering. I was lucky, in that mine, survived in good shape.

Re: Restoration help please!

Yes on all 3.

I have the Custom trim level for my 1968, and the door panels are and rear panels are color matched vinyl covered.

The headliner would have been perforated white fiber board panels, with chrome trimmed bows in between each panel.

The floor mat was reproduced a few years back, but the quality was pretty poor since the material would wear through in traffic areas pretty easily. ACC used to make them, but when I talked to the owner he pretty much talked me out of buying the kit. Since he new it would come back to him, so I went with color matched carpet instead.

Re: Restoration help please!

Is there a company out there that reproduces the headliner? I do have a blue hard board perforated headliner piece in the forward most section only. I just don't know if that's the way it was made or if it was a previous owner mod. I can post a picture maybe tomorrow. Thanks for the help fellas!

Re: Restoration help please!

The headliner is not reproduced.
Many of us have custom made a headliner to work though.

Re: Restoration help please!

I have since found out few things about my Burb...

1. My truck is as base of a model you could get. I thought that was a Custom model.
2. My headliner is just the first front quarter only and it's glued directly to the roof.
3. My truck did not originally have the rear inside quarter trim panels.
4. Brother's Truck Parts does make a (supposed) original replacement headliner. It seams very reasonably priced.

Has anybody here on this site used the Brother's headliner?

1. Custom option included bright trim work in the windshield, and padded door panels with larger arm rests.
2. All Suburbans had a card board type head liner. The front piece you are talking about is simply a sound deadening sheet for the front seat passengers.
3. If your Suburban was ordered with the Custom package, then your rear cargo area would have had panels.
4. The headliner that Brothers sells is just a giant sheet of fabric, that looks like it is the big brother of headliners from a 1970's Camaro. Plus you need to fabricate the steel bows, and outer edge trim to make it work and look decent.
