1972 3 speed shifter

so on my way to work this morning and went to pull the shifter into first / reverse gate and the pin broke off the end of the shifter luckily it was stuck in the 2/3 gate so I could continue on to work. Tried to search up a replacement do you guys know who sells replacements and or is the auto shifter the same as the 3 speed?? thanks in advance for the info.

I am pretty sure the below picture is showing the problem area that you are describing with your shift lever, this is just an old file pic that we had on file from last year. We can supply you with a replacement shift lever in either OE used or a new repro lever if your column is for sure a 71 or 72 column. If interested, we can be contacted by looking up towards the upper section of the board forum pages in the announcements section, click on the "Help Support Those Who Support Us" tab. It will take you to a list of vendors, find us on that list and once you are logged in we can be reached by clicking on the contact tab next to our name. Let us know, Mel.

Re: 1972 3 speed shifter

according to a catalog I have, a shift lever from an automatic will work, just hit a wrecking yard if you need to get your truck going right away

Re: 1972 3 speed shifter

Wow that sucks! Glad you are OK and able to get it fixed (I assume and hope).

My dad had 2nd gear go out in this 3 speed car he had. He had a very steep hill to climb too with lots of hair pin curves.......he said he "had traffic backed up for miles climbing that hill in first gear."

thanks Jim for the response I know were there is an auto column so I will have to pick it up

In the ten ring- six cylinder 3 on the tree and 4:11 gears starts out in second fine but there is one hill on the way home with a light at the top that was red on the way home a little sweating and little prayer I was able to time it so I didn't have to stop thankfully

Re: 1972 3 speed shifter

3 ott and 4.11 rear end? That's what my truck is!

I could see where that would be dicey! We must have pics of your truck! Righ here, right now, this thread. *We don't really need pics, I just want to see a truck with my exact set up.

Re: 1972 3 speed shifter

There they showed up
Grandpa bought it new in 72 now has 330,000 miles on it and it dives like a dream just installed the 3 engine in it so glad he got mad at the 69 ford f100 for eating up front tires and traded it in on this truck doubt the ford would still be around today
