Re: 62 c10 8/4 short bed

I got some time to work on the truck lately. I finished the welding and plating on the area of the frame where I shortened it. I got the cab sitting on it and started building the new frame rails for over the rear axle and back. Here's the template I used. The frame is on the axle in the pic. This will give me 5-1/2 inches of travel upward. I used 5x3x.250 wall rectangle tubing.

This piece is pretty hefty.

Re: 62 c10 8/4 short bed

I made a mistake when I cut a 90 degree pie from it. I just made a piece to fit back into place and kept going. I didn't see any reason to start over since I don't think it made it a whole lot weaker.

Re: 62 c10 8/4 short bed

I'm thinking about using a thinner 3x4 rectangle than I have here. I have .250 wall but after handling it I've realized it may be way overkill. It's heavy and I don't think it has to be that thick. Any thoughts?
