Bed patch panel ? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

My steel bed in my truck is going to need fixed or replaced. It has a couple of holes over the bed support between the wheelhouses and at the very end of the bed. The rear sill seems solid but the bed is rotting. I believe there is a patch panel I can use in the middle part of the bed, but at the rear sill is a factory bevel that gives it a finished look. Is there a panel for that part. I will also need this for my Blazer. I see that GMCPaul has a rear patch for the '73 and up that looks finished, has anybody used that before?

Probably your best bet is to look in the junkyards for a bed floor that you can cut up for the pieces you need. They do make a patch for 67-72 floors but it isnt very big and it wont be beveled at the rear. Also quality of the patch has to be be pretty good to get the ribs to line up. I shortened down a LWB floor to use in my Jimmy. I noticed very slight variences using floor pieces from two different trucks. The difference was very very nominal but it made alot more work in getting the two peices to line up.

my buddy is getting a whole bed floor.he said its as staight as an arrow and still has the molding on it.im not sure what moldings he is talking is about.but i know he wants to sell it a.s.a.p. but we are in georgia.

. if you or any one is intrested please let me know so i can talk to my buddy and see if we cant get something worked out!!!!!

GeeEmm I've kinda been watching how you built your bed for a while now, at one time you gave the measurements of how much you cut out of the longbed and where. I have that saved someplace.

Unfortunately I haven't seen a bedfloor around this area that is any better than mine.

Bumtruck, is it a truck bed or Blazer floor. The only things I can think of being trim on a floor is a Blazer across the front or maybe he means the crossills underneath. I would be interested in it if I had a way to get it.

I think it was about 6 inches cut off the front and 8 inches from the rear. You have to use the first 6 inches from a Blazer floor, there is no way around that
