Parking brake return spring
This is one of the fiddly little things I want to fix before putting the bed on. After overhauling the brakes on my K-10, I'm happy to report the parking brake now works on my truck. Or at least it holds the truck when on. As you can see, I'm missing the return spring. I'm sure something off the shelf should work if I make up a bracket to attache to the lever and drill a hole in the frame. Any suggestions on the size (length, diameter) of that spring? |

Re: Parking brake return spring
On my 63 its a Spring and a rod, the spring was about 12 inches long and tough to put on.

Re: Parking brake return spring
Jimal, Here's a photo of the spring attachment piece I think you're missing. The rusty spring came with the truck. I had Century Spring make one for me but to make their minimum order I had to order six

Re: Parking brake return spring
Jimal, Is this a short bed truck?
It looks like the parking brake bracket is attached to the crossmember that supports the carrier bearing. Is that right? In the other photos, the bracket looks like it is supported off of the transmission crossmember. Is there a dedicated crossmember for the bracket? Thanks Ken |
