Cool My 72 longhorn dually project

Removed the D60 found it has a locker or that power lok or w/e. One wheel wont turn w/o the other.

Then realized how much beefier the AAM is over the D70HD

My 72 GMC longbed with 50k original miles. ARIZONA truck!

0 rust!

Under body going to paint soon.

Re: My 72 longhorn dually project

The AAM is less than a half inch off on each side (wider)

I'm guessing less than a half inch would require new perches... any other way around this? heh

Ordered 19.5's aluminum dually wheels, anybody ever done this size on a 72?

I may be in the wrong forum for this kind of stuff...

There are a couple of one ton threads heavy with pics. they also have a few with 19.5's on them. You won't be disappointed with your choice. Jim

Re: My 72 longhorn dually project

Clearances was the main thing, turning etc. Front offset is 0! Hate spacers...

Most fabricate their dually fenders since you can't buy them anymore?

Re: My 72 longhorn dually project

So they sent me 19.5's dually set up... was supposed to get non dually front however they sent them anyway.

Now anybody have any input/experience on steel front dually adapters?

Re: My 72 longhorn dually project

Replaced leaf spring bushings and decided on the D70 HD saving the AAM for later. BTW the D70 HD is a direct swap minus shock mounts.

Dropped the dually fronts ,getting the correct rims and just bought a 8.1 to replace the meh 454.

Dropped all fuel tanks don't care for the set up.

D70HD was a direct swap minus shock mounts. Later swap in the AAM 1150 with disc brakes.Helper springs for a cheap fix until I get a better set up and air bags.

Re: My 72 longhorn dually project

Disappointing that Curt does not make a class V hitch anymore so guess this class V will do.

Surprising the hitch fit JUST right and looks good also.Just cleared the step bumper perfect.Next fuel tank and rims/tires.
