official name

Does anyone know the GM official name for the 60's era trucks? 47-55 are known as Advanced Design and 55-59 are known as Task Force. Was just wondering what the GM name was for 60-66 trucks

Re: official name

i've seen it loosely referred to as the "V8 Era" Chevy trucks in a few places and books.

Re: official name

I'm with Norm on the Jobmaster name as that is what I hear most often, but I don't think they had made up their minds ...or something. The Jobmaster name, if correct, wasn't pushed like in previous generation names. Check out some of these brochures below.
Well, now that isn't confusing ...

Re: official name

On that cover for the 1960 model trucks they are still called the Task Force. I know that 1960 was still referred to as an Apache on the emblems. I believe this is the same for 1961 models on the emblems.

The C10 designation I believe started in 1962, when they changed to the Job Master name. The emblem was no longer Apache 10, but a Chevy Bowtie along with a 10. That was for the 1/2 ton trucks...

The "C" did not appear as part of the emblem. 1962-1966 had different designs for the emblem each year and varied on placement. Some years on the Front Fender, Some years on the Cowl Extension.

I have seen 1965 literature with the "Workpower" moniker just like the 1966 brochure shown by oem4me above.

So from what I have seen and from pictures in this thread, looks like the 60-66 model trucks had a few names, like said above, GM could not make up their minds in Marketing...

1960, 1961 "Task Force"
1962-1964 "Jobmaster"
1965-1966 "Workpower"

Re: official name

Years ago I came across a website for 60-66 called AEROTRUCKS. That's how I came up with my avatar. I think it bests reflects the 60-66 series. This body style was based on aircraft design hints.
