Looking for ideas to soften my ride
My old 70 SB is one bouncy old girl. When I see a bump in the road ahead, I sort of flinch because I know that I am about to get bounced pretty hard. She rides a lot better when I have a load in the back but I dont want to have to load the bed with weight put to soften my ride. Any suggestions on ways to make her ride be a little more forgiving? I already installed new coil springs and shocks.

Re: Looking for ideas to soften my ride
A little more info on what you have, stock height etc and what springs you used in the replacement.

Re: Looking for ideas to soften my ride
Really? One of the things I love about my truck is how great it rides....
Did you lower the truck? You could be hitting the bump stops causing the jarring ride. You're supposed to trim the bump stops when you lower one of these trucks.

Re: Looking for ideas to soften my ride
My truck is a c-10 SWB. It's not lowered or anything. I put Early Classic Enterprises, stock height coil springs on it and KYB shocks. It rides a lot better with a little load on the rear. When I used to pull a boat with it, she gave me a decent ride. She gives such a stiff ride with no load on the back axle. I am getting to be an old fart so I need to get a little softer ride.

Re: Looking for ideas to soften my ride
Sounds like the shocks are too hard. Are they Gas-Adjusts? If so, loosen them up. Hydro shocks will give a softer ride. I hope ECE gave you C/10 coils

Re: Looking for ideas to soften my ride
You said you "already installed coil springs and shocks", so I have to ask if you think the truck rode just as crappy before the change? Or did you like how it rode before the change?

Re: Looking for ideas to soften my ride
Just my 2 cents before spending any more money, put the old shocks back on, if there still good. see how that is.. if its the same add some weight like you mentioned see if your back where you were when you thought it was decent.
