Not sure why your other ones would be different. I have a 72 and they look the same.
Thank-you Kirk! That clears it up for me. My tailgate/hatch rest is so different that I didn't even realize that's what the one strip is! For educational purposes here's a couple of comparison pics. Now I am thinking that the tailgate seal design must have been improved from 1970, just don't know which style 1971 would have used since your truck is a '72.

Pic 1- the two on the left are my 1970 carpet strips. They are both the same.
Pic 2- end of the tailgate hatch rests
Pic 3- same end taken from above
Pic 4- the side where the hatch rests/tailgate top

Re: Carpet or mat hold down strips?

I'm pretty sure the two strips on the left are just two front carpet strips with one flipped around.. The rear is prone to rust and I believe people may have swapped them. My 72 had the strip with the channel for weatherstripping and its original. I have the front strip just like the two you have in the picture and its in better shape. I've heard people say the front and rear are the same on some years but this has never been substantiated as I've seen the rear strip in 69-72. If you decide to sell the rear strip I might be a buyer.

In '70 in this truck anyway one of the left ones was in fact the rear original. Mom bought this truck when it was less than a year old early in '71 so I know that had not been changed. I got my learner's permit drivers license in it later that year. Like the tailgate weather strip trim and the hatch rest is all different from '71 and '72 that must have been also. That strip was never removed until I pulled the torn up carpet about 8 years ago.

This stuff is going to be put up for sale, (not the '70 carpet strips) but I still need to learn how to ship parts this long before I can begin to calculate shipping! Hopefully I can come up with a plan within a couple weeks. I go on-call at work tomorrow so internet time will be limited for a week.

Thanks for all the commentary!
