front leaf question
when i got my 71 k20 it it had a broken ds leaf.trying to save some $ i just got another 3 leaf spring from the jy from the only 67-72 k i know of in any yard around and it only had one good one.
i pulled my d 44 out yesterday and p washed everything then noticed that my good spring on the ps the middle leaf dosent loop around the front eyelet like the one i got from the yard i completely over looked/didnt notice the ps side question 1...so im guessing what i thought was my one good leaf is broke also...yes/no. . are both l&r leafs identical should my ps middle leaf have that half hook around the eyelet ? if its broke it sure is a clean break. question 2. mine is a 71 and has that metal strap across the ds front hanger and what looks too be a travel limiter behind the ds spring eyelet/shackle are both of these nessacary/ if i use square body springs do i remove that rear limiter thingy question 3. i can get a nice set of 4 square body 4" lift springs i read that my mounts gotta be moved to use these...do i have to move both the front and back mount of the front spring? 4th. question if i use the square body springs and have too move the front hanger is there still enough room too mount my tow hooks..... i really need to start a build thread on this truck since i'm a 4x4 newbie i have many questions

Re: front leaf question
square body springs are longer, which you are aware of, I wouldn't move the hangers if it were me, just find the correct springs, look on the parts for sale board here,If you feel you really need the square body springs, only move the rear hangers. I am told you should leave the travel limiter on there. don't remember why, but there are threads on here discussing that.... there are alot of guys here that have replaced their stock springs with lift springs, myself included, maybe you could post that you are looking for some, however you have to be a paid member to post in the wanting to buy, or sell section.....you might consider using an ez-ride lift spring for the front and blocks in the back, I used a skyjacker 2.5" lift setup in my 72 K20, lifts it enough to run 33" tires with no rubbing, and gives a great ride, Tuff Country makes a really nice ezride setup also.....

Re: front leaf question
wrap around style you described are common in aftemarket and military applications, typically heavy duty, so you may have aditional issues with different heights left and right .

Re: front leaf question
Thanks guys,
don't worry my subscription gonna be renewed soon. I took a good look at this spring in the day lite I thought it was broke cause it didn't have the "hook" on the end but it appears that it's Identical too my other spring. The one on the right is the jy spring with the hooked second leaf that came off the Dr side of another 71. Middle is my ps that I thought it should have the hooked end. Left is my old broken Dr side. It only has half of a front eyelet. The square body in the jy has a bunch of nice suspension parts I just figured I "could" get all the parts and use them But I really don't wanna go moving mounts around. Here is few parts I did grab. Also got a rancho dual steering stabilizer I didn't get a pic of. It had ord shackles on it but I snapped 2 of the grease able bolts trying to get them off. Funny cause they broke fairly easy using a 1/2" drive ratchet.

Quote:
Yhea I could. I have a few local spring shops. One of them gave me a fairly good quote on new springs. I know some may say do it right the first time. But as of now I just wanna fix what is broke so I can get this truck drivable. It will get done right when I have the garage space to be able to set it up and fix the rust in the cab. But first I gotta get it moving on Unbroken springs.

Re: front leaf question
There is a spring shop in Lebanon, PA these guys can get or make anything. I'd take your factory spring to them first... They made me new Ubolts and some other items and can machine anything.
Lebanon Parts Services Address: 345 S 9th St, Lebanon, PA 17042 Phone (717) 272-0181 Second option if you want a lift is to buy new springs and put blocks in the rear.
