Re: What headers for a 4 Speed manual transmission?
Here is a picture of my project. As you can see I still need exhaust! Hopefully next week I will order some headers. Thinking of going with Heddman headers.

Didn't think I could post one pic and posted two! Just got the doors on last night, thinking of going with a ceramic coated Hedman header, Hedman says they will fit!

Re: What headers for a 4 Speed manual transmission?
Here they are and they fit fine Hedman # 66092. I bought these from Muddyole69 and put them on today. I also called Hedman and they told me this was the part# that I needed. Hope it helps.

Re: What headers for a 4 Speed manual transmission?
Just wanted to ad a note to this thread. I have a 70, GMC, 4 Spd, 4x4, 350SB with a 3" lift. I bought the Hedman Headers # 66092. I called hedman and asked if these headers would fit. Headman said yes they would. I forgot to tell them about the 3" lift. When I got to the shop today they started on the pass side first. The header ended up hitting the shackel on the leaf spring. I called Hedman from the shop and told him what was going on. He said if I have the truck lifted it would most likely hit the sackel on the pass side. Sure enough it did. The shop said the the Dougs would fit part #372Y. I bought the Hedman header threw Summit. They seem pretty cool about a return. Has anybody but the Doug headers on a similar truck as mine and did they work?

Re: What headers for a 4 Speed manual transmission?
I`m noticing everyone is just using the brand name and not the model in their descriptions.Headman makes TorqueSteps,Elites, etc.Hooker makes Comp,SuperComps, etc. These often have differences in the bends, not just materials. When someone comes up with a sure-fire fit, please give the specific header and application. The part# is good, but everyone doesn`t have a catalog handy and some dealers use their own PN,not the mfgr`s.
There`s another solution (other than modifying linkage) if you want to use a specific header and not just the one that works.Go with hydraulic clutch linkage. Those Doug`s are way expensive and I`d never want chrome on a 4wd,or anything for that matter. For what they cost, they should be stainless.

Re: What headers for a 4 Speed manual transmission?
Getting ready to go fishing for the weekend and saw your post. I went out to the garage and took a couple of pics. Mine are hedman elites I think. I have a 6" lift and I have lots of clearance. Looks like there is plenty of room even without a lift. Hope this helps. Could not get the pictures to load and I have to leave. Good Luck See Ya!

Re: What headers for a 4 Speed manual transmission?
YAY!!!!That`s what I have! All hearers I`ve run come close to the front shackles.Even the downpipe off the manifols comes extremely close.I always have to reverse the shackle bolt to put the head to the inside to help clear.A motor mount issue or mis-aligned engine would affect this clearance, too.I wonder why yours wouldn`t work,Beenjaamin.
