Sorry for the multi-room posting I just want everybody's opinoins.

I want to get a 73-80 c-10. It will be my daily driver. I want something that will really get up and go. I want some nice low end torque. I plan to race it at the track just mainly to be able to drive fast not so much for best time. Here is my idea.

a 350 bored .030 over (355)
9:1 compresion, (or would 9 1/2 :1 be better?)
maybe an RV cam
not sure on heads I'm only 15 so I dont know all about motors so could you help me with that.
a 600 or 650 carb (what brand should I run?)
an rpm intac
maybe 1.6 ratio rocker,
long tube headers, or short tube.
dual exhaust with flow masters
a higher stall (what stall speed?)
a th350 with shift kit.
and I am still not sure on gears,
and a msd distributer with hotter coil, plugs, and wires.

Anything else you can think of? Anything you would change? Will this motor be way to much torque and not enough top end?
Would I be better off with some short tube headers to even the power curve out?
Do you also think I should up the carb size altittle?

it all sounds pretty good there youngster, RV cams are generally very small so stick with a 2200 Stall converter and about a 3.73 rear. 600-650 carb is fine. a 650 double pump will hit a laot harder than a typical 600 vauum carb but if you have a stock lousy rear ratio and tight converter the 600 vacuum is more easily tailored to street driving. NO way is a 350 going to be too much torque for a 4500# truck in any form. DAVE

Drive mine... with it wet or damp out and see if you dont change lanes when 2nd gear hits

sounds like a pretty decent setup for an inexperienced driver. in your buildup use 76cc heads (882s come to mind, 76cc yet still decent flowing.) then as you get more experience driving, and can actually handle the horsepower, upgrade to 64cc heads and a bigger cam. i know, i know, you're 15, know ALL about driving, all that on top of being invinsible.

start mild with your powerplant, then work up. most importantly, you say you want to build it to drive fast. drive fast only where its permitted by law. i had the same mentality when i was your age, and it cost me 11 speeding tickets. one good thing, my insurance guy loves me.
