Push button start install problem 1989 Cheyenne
Hi all
I am working on a 1989 Cheyenne 4.3 manual. We decided for "fun" to install an push button start while I had the column apart changing turn signal assembly. Seemed straightforward wiring. Switch came with relay and a 4 wire setup. LED, 12v, starter, and ground. (red wire, 2 blue, and a black) On this truck, I traced started to Yellow wire to ignition switch as starter, Pink as 12v with key on position. Disconnnected battery. Cut Pink and yellow wire from ignition switch. Hooked red and blue, from push button to pink. Other blue from push button to yellow. Black to a good ground. I then reconnected battery. Turned switch to on, no dash warning lights, etc. No LED light on Push button and no start. I pulled every fuse from block and checked, all ok. Only receiving .01 volt to ecm fuse. Only .01 volt to pink wire. Checked fusible links at firewall, all 12v past link. Disconnected ecm, .01 volt at pink wire. Unless there is another fuse or link I don't know of, I suspect I damaged the ecm. What do you think? If it did damage it, what did I do wrong? Push button is installed in dash now, and so I would still like to use it. How do I make this work? Thank you for reading |
