63 Parking Brake Lever inside Drum

My 63 2wd is missing the parking brake lever/actuator on both rear wheels. I can find pictures of the part online, but no part number that covers back to 1963. Will an 1988-1998 lever work? Or is my best bet to head to the salvage yard and hope I find a pair? Thanks.

G Van has a compatible lever.

Used GM part number 15594177 and 15594178, and it works

Vanhow10, did these levers work for you? My 64 is missing them and want to be sure they work before I purchase them.

Thanks!
Jeff

Re: 63 Parking Brake Lever inside Drum

Jeff,

I just got back from vacation and haven't installed the lever yet. From what I can see, I think the part should do the trick without issue. I hope to find time soon to order the necessary brake cables. Some family health issues have come up and I need to spend time with them instead of the 63.

Re: 63 Parking Brake Lever inside Drum

Good news! The left side lever fits great! I had to order them from different place and the right side won't be here until Monday. The only thing you will need are two e-cilps to keep them on the primary brake. If you buy a drum rebuild kit it will come with the two e-clips, too!

I will install the right side this week sometime and report back.

Edit: Added picture to clarify the e-clip.

Dang! Why are my pictures always sideways?

Tilt your head 90 degrees to the left.

Well, crap. USPS screwed up my shipment so I don't have any idea of when the lever will come in.

I ordered them through Amazon from two different places: GM Parts America and GM Accessories. Neither place seemed to have both.
