Couple quick LS engine questions

I'm planning on swapping a 5.3 into my truck over the summer. As soon I get my tax refund i'm planning on buying a 5.3 and 460le from a guy who parts out newer trucks. I'll try and get everything from one truck but I have a few questions. 1. what years are drive by cable and drive by wire and which is easier to make work? 2. If I were to buy the 5.3 and tranny separate what years work with each other? 3. i've heard that a 460le and 700r4 are the same length is that true? I'm sure I'll have more random quick questions so thanks in advance

Re: Couple quick LS engine questions

700R4 and 4L60E are the same basic tranny, the 4L60E has electronic controls and there were upgrades over the years but that's it. I believe any year 4L60E should work with any 5.3 that had an automatic transmission but could be wrong.

I don't recall what year they got drive by wire but if you can get the gas pedal it's easy enough to make them work.

Re: Couple quick LS engine questions

On the throttle question it depends on what it comes out of if its dbw or dbc..my 02 6.0 had dbw and I swapped it over to bdc with a camaro throttle. Its a little cheaper and easier as you don't have to buy the pedal and don't have the extra wiring to deal with. I bought a throttle cable from a 01 truck and with a little mod to firewall hole it worked perfect.
