PB Stage 2 "Deluxe" OR Rear Dropmember "Touring"
I am planning out my rear suspension build for winter. The goal for the truck is a strong every day driver with the possibility of autocross for fun. 98% of the time the truck will be driven on the street so I need your guys input for not going too crazy on the suspension parts since most of the driving will be on the street. Here are the 2 kits I am looking at.
1. Stage 2 "Deluxe" with Hotchkis 6" springs. $1,549.00 Bed would not have to be modified. I have the Hotchkis springs already so that would save a little money. 2. Rear Dropmember "Touring" with coilovers $2,425.00 The bed would have to be raised with this kit. http://pbfab.com/shop/67-72-rear-dropmember-coilovers Truck specs. Motor: Built SBC 283 Trans: Sag close ratio 4 speed Cab: Chopped 2.5 inches Rear end: Stock with Posi & drum brakes Rims: 18" Would like to achieve a stance like this. Thanks |

I dont think you will get that low without cutting the bed. If money isnt in issue I'd go stage 2.

Nothing against Porterbuilt but since you posted the No Limit truck, have you looked at their kit:

Re: PB Stage 2 "Deluxe" OR Rear Dropmember "Touring"
The PB guys are VERY helpful with answering all of my emails. It looks like I will have to raise the bed floor 4-5" to run the Rear Dropmember "Touring" with coilovers.
Here are some pictures of the different options. 1. Run Deluxe set up with 6" Hotchkis springs. I currently have these springs. I am not sure if the kit allows the truck to run lower with the PB engineered parts vs stock parts with 6" springs. Still looking for some pictures of a fleet side set up with this combo. $1,549 2. Deluxe set-up with coil over springs. It seems the coil overs allow you to run the truck lower then spring/shock set up. $2,150 http://pbfab.com/shop/67-72-rear-dropmember-coilovers Pictures 3. Dropmember Rear "Touring" package with coil overs. $2,350 This kit might be a little low to run on the street all the time however it would look the best with my current cab chopped 2.5". Picture The big price jump with option 2 and 3 is the coil overs. I need to really gut check myself and figure out which option would work the best with a truck driven on the street most of the time. |

Re: PB Stage 2 "Deluxe" OR Rear Dropmember "Touring"
I went through the same dilemma with my 66'. In the end I chose the stage 2 deluxe package since at the time I didn't want to modify my bed. Even with the deluxe, if you want full drop (or gain a couple more inches of travel), you would need to remove the bump stops and raise the bed floor 2", so there is that option. Here is my 66' with the deluxe sitting on bumps, I could get another 1.5" drop out of this if I raise the bed floor (I know not an apples to apples with the different years).

Re: PB Stage 2 "Deluxe" OR Rear Dropmember "Touring"
Would the drop member "touring" be able to run a 1-peice drive shaft without cutting the cab floor?

On the driveshaft talk to a local diesel shop most can custom make you one to handle any power you want.
