Any info on preserving patina?
I have a 70 C10 that blue with a white roof and im digging the surface rust on the top of the fenders and top of the hood. I love the patina look. I have searched everywhere and I've seen many idea's, but I wanted to ask your opinions. I'd like to get the look of the pic below, while also not having to hopefully see the rust come back to the surface year after year.
I've seen: CLR Eastwood's matte clear Wax Comet cleaner then Wd-40 rattle can clear furniture wax just Wd-40 https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com...4e64c9d7d5.jpg . . . ..

Re: Any info on preserving patina?
Those images look like "fauxtina" to me the areas that aren't body color look like sanded through basecoat which is then cleared over however
I have seen guys use CLR on a rag to stop major rust through in areas it will take away some of your surface rust that you have though In my opinion if after 40 years it hasen't majorly rusted through it likely wont for another 40 if not left to sit in the weeds

Re: Any info on preserving patina?
of course there is CLR as a rust removing options, (which works great), and clear coats matte and shiny. You can also try eastwood patina preserver, uve heard good things about it, and its supposed to be invisible. i plan to try on my rusty old friend when i can.
good luck! |

Re: Any info on preserving patina?
It is only patina until you mess with it!

Re: Any info on preserving patina?
CLR with white scotch bright pads and clear or wax. I prefer to clear with half and half flat/satin mix.

Re: Any info on preserving patina?
linseed oil will make it semi-shiny for about a week. then it'll just attract dust.

Re: Any info on preserving patina?
When I asked my painter about my rust, I mean patina, he said "It took 45 years to do this, what are you worried about happening the next year or two?" Leave it alone.
