What is the cost of rebuilding a 350 turbo transmission?
I have a 1985 swb chevy with a stock 350/350 turbo. What is the price on bench building a chevy 350 turbo short shaft transmission near the Memphis tn area? What is the suggested parts to replace? What is the cost in labor to take it out and reinstall it? What other question should I ask the transmision tech. I just don't want to be burn again.

Re: What is the cost of rebuilding a 350 turbo transmission?
With a 85 short bed 1/2 ton a turbo 350 isnt stock it should be a 700r4 in it.If the truck is a daily driver i would ditch the 350 for a 700r4,But back to the questions if you drop the truck off and let the shop do all the work 3 grand is a good ball park number,Now if you just drop the trans off alone 500 is a good ball park number.

Re: What is the cost of rebuilding a 350 turbo transmission?
I just had a th350 built by PTC. Total cost for a race built trans and 3500 stall converter was $1500 plus freight $125. Then I had my buddy who owns a hot rod shop install it for $800 " no discount". I don't trust local trans shops. So I went with a company that is known for building racing trans. And who has a great reputation in the racing community. Plus my custom carb builder who is a racer recommended them as well. So in all around $2400 is what I paid. And I don't daily drive mine. Call PTC up and speak with Kenny the owner. Some good old boys down at PTC.

My 1985 C/10 short bed originally came with a 305 and turbo 350 trans. The overdrive 700r4 trans was optional.

Re: What is the cost of rebuilding a 350 turbo transmission?
I think the price will depend a little bit on what's wrong with the transmission. If there are any hard parts that need to be replaced, that will drive up the price. I had the th350 in my stepside rebuilt a few months ago, I bought the rebuild kit, a bushing kit, and a new converter, and I got charged around $350 for labor. I'm sure they would gouge you pretty bad to pull, and install.

The TH350 was built until 1986, and 1980 thru 1986 were actually TH350C which had a Lock Up Torque Converter.
