Need help identifying rear end

I'm new to the forum and have been searching for some info so that I can identify the rear end in my truck. I picked up the truck last (been sitting under a shed for 20+ years). It is a 1960 Apache. It seems that there were two options for the rear end. The Eaton HO32 or Dana 44. I've attached a pic of mine.

Is there some where on the rear end that I can look to get part numbers, etc.? I'm going to keep the 6 lug set up and trying to determine if I can use this rear end or if I need to start looking for a replacement (found one from a 2005 escalade).

Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated!

Hello, I'm new here myself. It's an eaton rear end. Unless the gears are to low in it for you there shouldn't be any reason not to use it

I'm not that familiar with Eaton's. Even though it looks like one, I can't say for sure what it is, but It's not a Dana 44.

Re: Need help identifying rear end

If it is in a half ton that is a HO33 Eaton with a 3.90 gear ratio

Re: Need help identifying rear end

I agree with j.kirn

That is a Eaton HO32/33 with more than likely 3.90 gears. If you are real lucky it will have the rare 3.38 gears. The only thing available for those aside from bearings and seals are 3.38 gears from Yukon.

That 2005 Escalade differential will be way too wide for your truck. I don't have an exact width on those, but it will be about 5" wider than your Eaton.

Re: Need help identifying rear end

Thanks guys for the feedback!

Looks like I'll definitely need to replace it, but going to hold off until I'm closer to getting an LS installed.
