LMC weatherstrip kit

I am so disgusted with this garbage. First of all the windshield strip. The window installer had been doing this for 30 years and he had the worst time possible with it. Ended up giving up and having two loops in the corners due to it being to long. I now need a new strip! And it has to be redone completely! Then to the door strips. One came in the package all crushed and dented. NO GOOD! And even the one that is installed is so cheap and thin. It doesnt even touch the door at all points when shut! They sent me a free replacement for the one door. But I dont think I can go with these at all. Who has a better one? Precision? The rear glass was ok I guess...But I wasnt there when the body shop did it. They said it was a nightmare! The cowl weatherstrip is again cheap and not a good thick rubber. Doesnt seem like it will keep water out at all. Im thinking of making them refund me for the entire kit. Or at least everything but the rear glass. Im thinking they have experience with this complaint lol. I have spent in excess of $2500 in the past 4 months there. They better!

By the way my truck is a 85 k10.

Re: LMC weatherstrip kit

I had ordered the same kit for my 1970 Chev, went to put in the back glass, the rubber was to long,I sent the whole kit back,I didn't want to take a chance on the other rubbers, ordered some stuff from Classic Parts today,so hopefully I will get the right sized rear rubber, not impressed with LMC.

Re: LMC weatherstrip kit

I bought precision and installed myself with a buddy and it looks perfect. All trim. Windshield. Rear window and all door and door window trim. Couldn't be happier. Got it at classic parts

Re: LMC weatherstrip kit

If you look closely at the pic in the bottom corners of the windshield. You can see where we had to cut the loop and hodge podge it to look decent until we find a better strip. What an absolute joke! They should be embarassed.

Im thinking of getting the door kit and the windshield straight from precision. The doors are $71 and the windshield is $75

Re: LMC weatherstrip kit

If you decide to go with classic parts. Call and ask if they are selling precision. They told me they change from time to time. I got all precision for a great price get the windshield strip with the locking strip

Yeah after looking at the precision site. I'm thinking that isn't the place to order it. I just saw the door weatherstrip for half the price on auto parts warehouse.

Re: LMC weatherstrip kit

There are a couple of vendors here that sell Precision. I got mine from Captkaos. BTW I had similar trouble with a replacement seal I got from LMC. I did get it installed but it dried out and looked like crap within a year or so. That was what made me do some digging and found out about the Precision seals.

Re: LMC weatherstrip kit

I got some of my door weatherstrips from Pecision, and I am very happy with the quality and fit. I was able to find some OEM pieces, such as the cab door openings. Whatever you can't find, that isn't OEM, I would recommend Precision.

Windshield, back window and door seals all by precision. Good stuff.

Had the windshield out the other day, just like the day it went in.

Re: LMC weatherstrip kit

The largest part of stuff from LMC is junk! I have heard they are working on improving their quality but I won't purchase much from them anyway. When I first got my crewcab, I was really excited that LMC sold everything I could possibly want for it. I am really glad it is taking me this long to get the truck done. Otherwise I would have wasted a lot of money on subpar parts. I only buy gearshift pointers for the 67-72 columns and clutch and brake pedal pads from them. The other stuff I purchased was a real big disappointment!

Thumbs up Re: LMC weatherstrip kit

Lmc sucks with weather stripping. Soffseal is the way to go in my opinion.

Re: LMC weatherstrip kit

I thought LMC sold Precision? I just rebuilt a set of vent windows and got new glass kits from USA-1. Unfortunately they made the Vent glass incorrectly and had the pivot bracket in the wrong spot. I got the corrected one and finally got them installed and they are beautiful but no matter where you get stuff there are always going to be issues. What matters most is if they make good on it.

New windshield gaskets are tough, they don't always fit easily

Precision. Perfect fit on all rubber. Back window. Doors. Vents. Windshield. And the first time I installed each of them

LMC buys very little from Precision, so if you want to buy Precision just give us a call and we'll direct you to a dealer.

When you talk about a loop, you're talking about excess right? That is a very common complaint on this style of seal which goes on the body first. Watch our install video to see how we address this.
