Re: craigslist c10 seconed opnion(price check)

IMHO walk away from it.
4.88 gears
700R4 easy to kill
305 well... they are not generally loved

If you are new to these trucks I'd recommend starting with a fairly stock truck.

We don't know your style so....?
Its not my style...it doesn't catch my interest...but I'd be out on that deal.
Not much original, flat black, 305, non-original just about everywhere.
Let me repeat tho'....we don't know your style so the ball is in your court and as everybody know...to each, his own.
My two bits.

Re: craigslist c10 seconed opnion(price check)

The 4:88 will be what kills the gas mileage. Looks like a spray bomb primer job and you never know what it is hiding. If you are in Ca. I would look for an original paint truck even if it needs paint you at least know what you are buying. And 305's are not performance engines so adding 4 barrel carbs and such doesn't do a lot as you need to make the motor breath more air through the heads to get more power. Just dumping more gas in doesn't work.

Seems high priced without looking at it. Lots of much better trucks out there for less $. Have patience and learn more. This forum is a great resource. I like original paint trucks also-what you see is what you get.

Aville,

Tell this group what you are looking for and they will help guide you on the price.

Include San Diego on your search area. There are a couple cars on Craigslist right now that I would buy if I had a larger garage.

Re: craigslist c10 seconed opnion(price check)

Try the search engine "searchtempest". use C10 as your search criteria and 400 miles or less and it will search every list of craigs and show you "everything out there for sale and how much they are asking. It is a great tool to help you figure out if something is low or high priced.
That's what I would do anyhow.

For 5500 bucks you could get something much faster and much more stout if you are looking for a weekend cruiser/for fun truck. You could also get something much more original and practical if you're looking for a daily driver type truck. As stated above, that rattle can paint could be covering up some bodywork that you'd never see unless you knew what to look for. I've never been a fan of the 305, not many here are if I'm reading right. It's just not great for anything. Isn't not a big power maker, and it's not great on gas, but it gets from A to B The 700r4 would be cool if it was done right by somebody who really knew how to build trannys, otherwise its probably only a matter of time before it needs rebuilt.

It's not a bad truck at first glance, and depending on what you want it for it could be great for you. Aside from the 4.88 rear end, it's all pretty mild and could be a decent driver. But your money could be much better spent on something else. 5500 can buy you a lot of truck

Re: craigslist c10 seconed opnion(price check)

There dose not look like one factory part left on that truck.I like trucks stock if any one of you sell a truck Buys want what they see in the catalogs.

I Hate HEADERS !!!

If you are trying to get bang for the truck use stock parts.Like 7 blade metal fan If you want major bang for your truck

Use M&H factory wire harness.and use the 1973 corvette Plug wires that go throw the motor mounts.

Added stuff like add on tact's are a waist of time if it came with a tack grate.

What ever you do don't buy the 49.99 chrome dress up kit that means your trying to hide something.

Big rims and tires to me i would tell you to drop the price and you keep the rims and tires 300 per tire

Miss match tires I rather buy a truck with all matching bald tires then see 4 different makes on the truck.

Remember your trying to sell your truck

Its like Curb appeal when you sell your house you would not want to paint your house all Black and put a Devil painted on your house to get 300K.

So if most of you see your ride open it up to more buyers.Cut out the hack Jobs.

I like seeing trucks mostly stock they sell but if people like to low ball you point them to Bone head down the street that has Pee Wee's custom truck for 7200 Know one will take your serious.

I payed 650.00 for this truck back in 2009 1971 Chevy Cheyenne 350 th350 AC power steering power brake rear leaf spring pretty much all stock found it on Craigslist it was on there for 1 year.

Remember thats when ever one was selling off 1969 RS SS big block camaro's for 9000.00 just to save there house.

it was a Byers market for people that had money.I had money but no house payment.
