Re: 1961 front crossmember mount
I have that Same mount on my 62 w/ straight six. I believe it's called the horseshoe mount. It also has the bellhousing mounts.

Re: 1961 front crossmember mount
I believe the forward mount was for the V8 horseshoe mount

I have the front horseshoe mount with my straight six. they can also be used with v8 and straight six. Are you using the Side mounts as well?

Re: 1961 front crossmember mount
I6 more than likely went forward and the sbc was the back one seeing as the I6 is longer

Re: 1961 front crossmember mount
Holes in the top of the '60-'62 cross member, and the perch in front of it, are for the horseshoe mount.
The bellhousing mounts don't move--the trans is in the same location for V8 or I6. The I6 is longer, so the perch was added to mount the I6 with the horseshoe. The same horseshoe works with both the I6 and the V8. -Brad
