Re: Finding my dad's 1968 GMC
Your story is identical to mine! Dad passed from cancer and wanted to find 68 that great grandpa purchased new and passed down through the generations. Found vin number on old insurance papers, gave vin to friend thats a police officer. Then found them on facebook and wrote several messages with no response over a month or so. Then wrote the wife (stalker status) with no response. Finally hand wrote a letter and mailed it to them and got a phone call back a few days later and we worked something out and i now have the truck back in the family. Good luck to you!

If I do end up buying the truck, I may take his urn with me, however weird that may be. We were planning a good road trip in his 2011 392 hemi Challenger right before he got diagnosed and became bed-ridden - this way I can have that last roadtrip with him. ![]() ![]() |

Letter with pictures and what I'm looking to do, and the story behind the truck, has been delivered. Time to play the waiting game.
