New Wiring Harness/Truck won't shut off
I have a 1968 c10 that I recently replaced the harness with a new one from LMC. Everything plugged right in and the truck fired right up on the first try. When I turned the ignition off, the truck continues to run. In order to turn it off I have to pull the wire on the distributor. I have researched all over and cannot find out the culprit and don't want to start diving into a lot of stuff that might not be the issue. The engine is a 350 with HEI. Has anyone else experienced this. I am thinking it might be a faulty ignition, or I may have the HEI wire on the wrong spot in the panel. The PO had a rats nest in their is the reason I changed the harness. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: New Wiring Harness/Truck won't shut off
It is usually caused by feedback from the alternator. If you are using an internal regulator alt. the inciter wire coming off the ign switch needs to have a diode in it.

What terminal do you have the +12v wire from the HEI plugged into on the fuse panel. It should be on the "IGN UNFUSED" terminal. Also, do you have a Yellow wire connected to the "R" terminal on the starter? LockDoc

After getting some time to go back out and check, I found that the +12v wire was plugged into a continuous hot spot on the fuse panel. Changed it and that solved the problem. Thanks for the help LockDoc. Now I gotta find out how to get the fuel guage working which is the last issue on this c-10. |
