Tire help please
Hey guys, I have 15x6 steelies for my 71 k5 4x4. Recently had alcan build 3" lift leaf springs.
My question is, does anyone know if there is a tire manufacturer that makes a narrow 33" tire. Closest i found is BFG all terrain or mud terrain 10.5". Would love something around 8.0 that looks vintage. Not a big fan of all the tread most all terrain tires have on the sidewalk these days. I know Coker has some good looking vintage tires but nothing in a 15 that's around 33". Any info is appreciated. |

Re: Tire help please
What are your thoughts on what a vintage tire should look like? There are guys on the board that run vintage tires, Bouncy truck, comes to mind. I'm sure there are others....
I run 31's by 10(actually measure 33"), but there is a reason, I want that side bite in snow, sand and rocks. Tire choice is critical for the performance of the truck, so my question to you is what do you expect out of the truck. Sidewall belts are important, don't know if you can get that in an older tire. I'm sure there will be follow up by other more knowledgeable guys in this area, as there is a lot of information out there

Re: Tire help please
thanks for your input Jim. In my opinion a vintage tire is a narrow, square, simple sidewall tire. I have no need for side bite on my k5 as it won't see much off road.
Curious what 31" tire your running that measures 33"? My BFG mud terrain 31x10.5r15's that I run on my off road car measure 29.5 tall. This k5 will just tow the off road car and boat |
