Big Rig/ Semi Truck Horn
Anyone out there installed a Big/Rig or semi truck horn in their AD? I am not too concerned with the horn being accurate as I would like the idea of the ceiling mounted "pull-chain?" I don't even know how these work really, other than, if you are a kid in a minivan, you give the international symbol and the semi truck honks its horn. lol. pictures are always helpful!

You'll need and air compressor and tank for one of those, you can buy a plastic air horn with compressor from the local auto parts store, may need a bigger tank for the bigger horn, I don't know. I had one of those air horns on a 55 Kenworth bus, it was connected to the air brake system.

"it was connected to the air brake system."
So if you were on the horn, the brakes didn't work? |

Re: Big Rig/ Semi Truck Horn
I have them on my '47 and had them on my '46. Yes they do require higher pressure then the aftermarket cheaper air horns provide. For my '46 it was on a manual valve using the rear bumper (5" tube) for the storage tank. On my '47 COE it is on a solenoid valve mounted to the air tank under the hood. This one also runs an York engine driven compressor. The pull valves are still in use and available at most semi repair shops.
