swapping diffs

My parts truck has a posi rear end in it and I would like to swap it into my 72 that has a 3:70 non posi. The only problem is, the posi is on a 70 chassis with 6 lug axles. Can I use my axles from the 72 so I can have 5 lug on the rear? is it a direct swap?

axle swap

This has actually been discussed before and the results were that '70 was a transition year for axle width. Some will swap directly and some won't. Only way to know is bust out the tape measure and find out for sure.
